Itinerary: 2 days from marrakech to zagora desert

Day 1 MARRAKECH – AIT BEN HADDOU – DRAA VALLEY – ZAGORA

In the morning, we’ll pick you up from your riad or hotel in Marrakech to begin our 2-day desert tour. Our journey starts by crossing the Tizi N’Tichka pass and traversing the High Atlas Mountains, where we’ll stop to admire the stunning views and pass through several Berber towns. Continuing southward, we’ll take a 6-kilometer detour to explore the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its appearance in numerous famous films.

Afterward, we’ll have free time for lunch in the city before continuing our journey through the Anti Atlas Mountains towards Zagora. Along the way, we’ll recommend some scenic spots for photo opportunities. Upon reaching the Zagora Desert after two hours of travel, we’ll switch to camels for a one-hour ride to the Berber camp, where we’ll witness a breathtaking sunset. Following dinner, we’ll enjoy a drum performance and Berber music before spending the night in nomad tents beneath the starry desert sky.

 

Day 2 ZAGORA – DRAA VALLEY – TIZI-N-TICHA – MARRAKECH

On the second day of our 2-day excursion from Marrakech to the Zagora Desert, we wake early to witness the sunrise from a small dune near our campsite. Following breakfast, we ride camels back to Zagora and then embark on a drive to the picturesque Draa Valley. Along the way, we pause to capture memorable snapshots of the valley, which boasts stunning views as it follows the course of the Draa River, the longest river in Morocco, extending from Mauritania to the Atlantic Ocean.

Our journey continues through the Anti Atlas Mountains en route to Ouarzazate. Optionally, we can visit attractions such as Taourirt Kasbah, the Cinema Studios, and the Cinema Museum. From there, we commence our return journey to Marrakech, enjoying lunch at the Tizi N-Tichka pass before continuing our drive. Expect to arrive in Marrakech within approximately two hours, where we conclude the tour and return to our accommodations, marking the end of our 2-day desert adventure from Marrakech to Zagora.
