Superb road and absolutely splendid landscapes declining ochres from brown to pink. so the first stop at the Telouet kasbah which overlooks the wadi Imaren and the surrounding hamlets. El Hadj Thami Glaoui, then Pasha of Marrakech, added a luxurious palace to it. At the end of the protectorate in 1956, the Glaoui were banished from the kingdom. Their possessions were looted and abandoned, the erosion of time doing the rest.
Even in its current state, the kasbah is worth a visit. The large empty rooms of the ceremonial salons still reveal magnificent remains. to clarify We will then take a mountain road towards Ait Benhaddou, crossing the superb Unila valley and its beautiful mountain casbahs. You will be seduced by the beauty of this valley painted many times by Majorelle, in particular Annemiter and Tighouza.
Ait Benhaddou
Arrival in Ait Benhaddou where we will have lunch and take the time to discover this magnificent valley. Overlooking the wadi Melah, the Ksar Aït Ben Haddou was under the control of the Glaouis clan, like Telouet. Strategic strongholds that controlled all commercial traffic coming from Africa and southern Morocco.
After the Protectorate and the fall of Glaoui, just like Telouet, the Ksar Ait Benhaddou was abandoned. however the casaba was in the 1960s that the cinema brought the Ksar Ait Ben Haddou back to life, with such famous films as ‘Jesus of Nazareth’ or ‘Lawrence of Arabia’.
